Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is a well-known Indian actress, best known for her starring roles in films Beta Saajan and Hum Aapke Hing Koun..! In the late 80s, she made her debut in acting and was a hit with her role of Tezaab where she was portrayed by veteran actor Anil Kapooor. Then she appeared in the movie Dil in which she shared the screen alongside Aamir Khan. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she was able to learn dance as a child. At the age of 16 She began to act and was a victim for a few years because most of her films at first were unsuccessful. The actress gained fame and was one of India's leading film actors. She took a break from acting following her marriage, but returned to the world of entertainment. Dixit was the main character as a lead actress in Gulaab Gang, a film that explores the struggles of women in India. Dixit has been nominated for the fifteen Filmfare Awards, out of which she received eight. Dixit was also awarded her Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian honour in India. She is well-known for her social works as well.
